Polar Paws is the inspiration of Dr. Rayhrer to help patients maintain nerve and brain health during chemotherapy.
Dr. Rayhrer has been a respected breast cancer and general surgeon for over 30 years. For three decades, Dr. Rayhrer has treated breast cancer patients. In 2018, she was shocked to learn that she had breast cancer and needed chemotherapy. As she prepared, she became deeply concerned about her risk for neuropathy, a common and often debilitating side effect which causes pain, numbness, and loss of coordination in the hands and feet.
Determined to protect her own nerves and brain health, she dove into the literature to find ways to fight side effects.
As a surgeon, Dr. Rayhrer was worried about being able to return to the operating room to help others. If neuropathy became a permanent side effect, she might no longer be able to perform surgery. She found that cooling the hands and feet while receiving chemotherapy is supported by scientific studies and helps mitigate damage leading to neuropathy changes. Specific supplements can also support the nerves during this vulnerable time.
Cooling the hands and feet was problematic as there was no standard or safe way available. Dr. Rayhrer set about developing a solution for safe and effective cooling of the hands and feet and Polar Paws was born. Her Polar Paws device is patent protected and completing development.
With this solution there is one less worry during chemotherapy.
